I think the real reason for fewer young adults marrying is a combination of prohibitive logistical factors, e.g. debt; things that forced people to get together to do fun things and maybe find a romantic partner have largely waned; workplace policies discouraging dating among coworkers (mainly to stamp out sexual harassment); and fewer low-cost, low-risk opportunities to "practice" socializing.
