If there's any upside to "defund the police" movements, it'll probably lead to people (re)discovering that citizen's arrest is a thing that can be used to bring criminals to justice. From there, it's only a matter of time before people are empowered to physically remove corrupt politicians from power (at least temporarily) by going full Karen on them. It's no more or less vulnerable to human biases than professional police officers.
Turns out Victor Davis Hanson's misgivings about National Review have to do with their editorial staff trying to "gatekeep" conservatism by denigrating Donald Trump and his supporters and ignoring issues that matter primarily to Trump supporters.
